Children's Music Education Program
Children Pre-K through 6th grade are invited to participate in our music education program and choirs. Laudate (1st to 6th grade) meets Sundays from 12:00-1:30 pm. Praisemakers (preK-K) meets Sundays from 12:00-12:30 pm. All our classes are taught by experienced music education teachers. The sessions run in nine week sessions: September-November, December-February, and February-May. The children will perform in concerts in late December and around Easter.
Laudate (1st-6th grade) is broken up into two groups (older and younger). Children rotate between the following three sections to develop their singing voices, learn proper techniques and appreciate music:
- Choir: Children will learn to use and enjoy their singing voices through instruction in proper vocal techniques and will experience large-group singing in unison and harmony. The choirs will participate in worship on selected Sundays and for special events.
- General Music Instruction: Through the use of a fun, sequential music curriculum, our goal is to develop each child's ability to sing and play music. Children will also develop music-reading skills to grow their capabilities in independent musicianship and musical expression.
- Hymnody and Worship: Children will learn a biblical view of music in worship and an historical perspective of church music. Each month a new hymn will be learned. Children who memorize all of the selected hymns will receive an award at the end of the year.
